Description

Nepenthes aenigma, BE-3770Nepenthes aenigma is a recently described species from Luzon in the Phillipines. It is closely related to Nepenthes burkei and ventricosa. Strangely, it has been documented to grow in deep shade in its native habitat which is a stark contrast to other intermediate and highland Nepenthes species. Weve grown it alongside all our other intermediate Nepenthes species and it seems to grow quite well; however, some growers who have more shady conditions

Though this cross has been done a few times in modern times

we have grown it well under both intermediate lowland conditions

We expect the progeny to come out looking like a red

This incredible species comes from Sulawesi and exhibits some of the most dimorphic pitchers of any in the genus
