Description
Spodumene (var: Kunzite) (doubly terminated)A large, thick, doubly terminated, gemmy "sword" shaped crystal group of Kunzite from Afghanistan. The piece is close to being a complete floater as I can't see a true point of attachment from the pocket wall, but there are couple small areas of incomplete growth. It was detached at one point and then recrystallized so it's now complete on both ends. The main crystal has a mix of softer green and purples colors when viewed on the "a" axis, but when
blue color cubic crystal of this hard-to-find species on matrix
while the other side is filled with Stilbite
The vast majority of the Zinkenite specimens from this find were certainly not this attractive and so richly grouped together
octahedral faces and a gemmy vibrant pinkish-red color
and it was a part of my private collection for years
A very small percentage of the Franckeites from San Jose are found on matrix
Although Wavellite is a fairly well-known phosphate species
